Heard this on our "new rock" station on the drive home yesterday;
It's an interesting cover, and the techno-dance beat makes it very catchy. It sure helped get me home more quickly.
But like so many things, it sounds better in the original German;
The artist here is Peter Schilling. Extra credit for 1) the mega-cheesy "kalidoscope" effects, and 2) the blinky-eyed E.T. toy. Because the song is about, like, space n' shit, right? Boxcar!
And, of course, you can't listen to this and ignore the original:
In an imperfect world, there are lots of things you can whine, snivel, bitch, or complain about if you choose.
But Bowie is not one of them.

Speaking of screams...
I just read this bit of trivia from Sam Fuller on his film, The Big Red One":
"The screams from the foxholes as the tanks roll over them seem strangely out of place, but actually happened. Samuel Fuller said, 'When we were in those holes, and the tanks were rolling over us, it was our only chance to scream all the terror out and not be heard. We got it all out in those holes...'" --imdb
I found that interesting.
Lisa: Fuller is The Man. There are very few "war movies" I can tolerate, and his is one. He'd been there, done that, and he never forgot what it was like.
