One thing any artist should know: drink's a demon and nobody is too big for it to seize. This gal - Rickie Lee Jones - was supposed to be the "next Joni Mitchell" back in the Eighties.
When she was on - and in her early years she was on like a freaking night light - she was really on. Here's another of the tunes from that first album:But she liked to drink too much. And so after her incredible first album she found herself lost in a welter of too much booze, too much confusion, too much hubris, and too little song.
She's sort of sad these days; still touring, playing shitty little clubs in forgotten places (Shirley, Massachusetts?) to tiny crowds. In her time, though, she could bring it, and she did.
And this is probably a good place to add that, although I enjoy bringing you this stuff, I can't help but notice (thanks, Blogger!) that nobody else bothers listening to it. So this is the last "Friday Jukebox".
I'll be here with more, though; you just hang on to my rainbow sleeves.

I listen!
I know, Lisa, and I will continue to offer up my musical tastes for your delectation, only I'll send you the YouTube links via e-mail. I mean, that's where I get these from, anyway...
I guess I'm just chopped liver too.
I often listen to music on blogs around the net. And I put stuff up that has caught my attention on the radio....nothing so interesting as what you and BadTux dredge up, however.
But today....must hustle to drag my aching self off to restock the cupboards before the natives get restless.
Ael - I had no idea; you guys must have a stealth-browser or something. These "Friday Jukeboxes" often have no views shown, or no more than one or two...
Well, how about this; if I find something I really think you'll enjoy I'll post it, but it'll be a whenever thing rather than trying to make it a regular Friday post cycle.
As I say to my bride, Labrys - you need a good wife to do that for you! :)
Not a lot of room in the chopped liver bin this week I guess.
You know we love ya, Chief :)
