Jesus Eggs!

We don't do much religion at the Fire Direction Center, but this year the kiddos wanted to decorate eggs. So.

To credit the artists: left and lower right, Daddy. Top right and right center, Missy. Top left and lower left, The Boy.

Here's another look.

Turned out rather well, for what Bugs Bunny would have called "da technicolor henfruit"...

I like your "earth day egg".

Those look like fun, one year, we all did Ukrainian style wax-resist eggs; only thing I ever saw more time consuming than fancy sugar cookies on something meant to be destroyed by eating!

(BTW...I'm steamed more than any hard boiled egg by this today. Wonder if you could pass it on to someone at Milpub?

FDC I am still following you from Taiwan! Love your writing. This is off topic but I would love to hear your views on the Bundy Ranch imbroglio on Milpub. I would also like to here Rangers replies and PfKhans responses. It might be interesting. I would start a topic there but I don't think I can start a new thread.

On topic, here in Taiwan I faithfully did Easter egg hunts for my daughter for a decade. Just to keep her tuned into my Catholic roots and the USA. MY mom still sends her a chocolate Easter bunny every year. Ceremonies and rituals still have some value, even if you don't believe in the roots, as it were.

Re: the whole Ted Bundy idiocy I hate to say this, but I really don't have anything to say about this mooching racist idiot that can't be summed up by the phrase "mooching racist idiot". What the hell else IS there to say? The fact that the red-meat Right and various guntards, black-helicopter/Agenda 21/tinfoil hat loonies, and generic loose-screw whackadoodles are willing to adopt this moronic welfare-queen cracker says more about them than it does about him or his "cause". The BLM really just needs to send one county sheriff out to arrest the fucking idiot until he gets his damn hamburgers-on-legs off our public land or pays his damn ridiculosly-low fees.

Sending one sheriff is too dangerous.

I would simply put a lien on his cattle (I assume that all those cows out there are branded) and his land. Then, wait for him to come try and clear the lien.

My friend insists the government can't own land. I don't believe he is right. Does it say anywhere in US law that the federal government can't own land?

Your friend is an idiot, James.

That idea is nonsensical on it's face. Suggest that he tries walking into his local county courthouse and telling the sheriff's deputy there that the County doesn't "own" the building and that he's taking possession of "his" property and they have to leave. See how far he gets with that.

In any case, the statute is Article 4, Section 3 of the Constitution: "The Congress shall have power to dispose of and make all needful rules and regulations respecting the territory or other property belonging to the United States"

Clearly the Framers were operating on the presumption that the Federal government would HAVE property (which was consistent with historical precedent - all governments have property, including real estate) so that even though there is no statute laws saying "The United States can own real property" the authority of the federal and state (and municipal) governments to own real property is clear and well-established.

In addition, Congress enacted something called "The Federal Land Policy and Management Act" in 1976 (FLPMA), which expressly declaring that the national policy generally was to retain the remaining lands in federal ownership. Section
102(a) of FLPMA states: “The Congress declares that it is the policy of the United States that — (1) the public lands be retained in Federal ownership, unless as a result of the land use planning procedure provided for in this Act, it is determined that disposal of a particular parcel will serve the national interest.”

So there you go. Tell you friend that he's an idiot, but you'll still be his friend provided he promises NEVER to listen to Rush ever again.

Thank you Chief!! I don't think he listens to Rush but rather goes down the rabbit hole of links from conservative blogs. Keep posting!!!
