And speaking of election eve...

...here's the latest lunatic GOP goober who will soon be in position to inflict her looney gooberosity on the rest of us to the extent she can.

This isn't an accident or coincidence or happenstance. This IS the Republican Party. This is where these lunatics have been going since Reagan - as Charlie Pierce likes to say - fed them the monkey brains full of trickle-down and welfare queens and government is the problem prion disease. Trump is not the disease. He's the symptom.

And the nation is FULL of these goobers. And they vote. And they are convinced that tomorrow belongs to them and are perfectly happy to dynamite the entire foundations of liberal democracy to get it.

I do not know how you run a popular republic with this much crazy in it. But I think we're finding out during this Plague Year, and the answer is not a happy one.

I believe that you messed up the link.

A quick look at Majorie Greene's campaign website suggests that
she is cynically engaging in these publicity stunts in a
(successful) attempt to gain publicity.

Her campaign material does not radically different from her opponent's.
Which is to say that her membership of the Professional / Managerial / Technical class
is acknowledged (but downplayed). Similarly, her opponent who is a neurosurgeon goes
out of his way to be dressed in camouflage and shooting targets.

Nowhere are suits and ties visible.

It is a pure appeal to the white working class.

Fucking Blogger has gone to a new format, and it's making this exponentially tougher to navigate. I believe it's fixed now, though.

I'll agree that Greene's "policy" positions contain all the poor- and dark- and immigrant- and Islam-bashing of her opponent, who is just a normally-worthless Republican Gilded Age motherfluffer. Their district is the biggest wingnut plague pit in the wingnut theme park that is Georgia - there's no way anyone sane could get elected there. It's not an appeal to the white "working class", at least, not in terms of things that will actually help workers (like unions, and safe workplaces, and decent wages and benefits).

It's an appeal to the racist and theocratic and gunhumping morons who think that if they elect John D. Rockefeller that he'll only screw the darkies and the faggots.

Greene's "appeal" includes:

“Q is a patriot...(t)here’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take this global cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles out, and I think we have the president to do it,”

She's said that Black people are “held slaves to the Democratic Party” - and I don't mean "slaves" in a figurative sense.

She's claimed that electing two Muslim women to Congress evidence of an “Islamic invasion of our government.”

She described George Soros, the liberal investor and Holocaust survivor, as a “Nazi himself trying to continue what was not finished.”

She's a nutbar, and she's appealing to the Inner Nutbar that the GOP is trying to weaponize, and doing a damn fine job of it.

She won the primary, so now she is destined for Congress (modulo the minor speed bump of actually getting elected.)

I guess there is no such thing as bad publicity.
