Tonight the White House should be enveloped in flames, the mutilated bodies of Trump and Miller and Melania dangling head-down from the East Portico in the best fascisti traditions. Terrified MAGAts should be hiding in cellars and alleys, barely pausing to tear the gold Trump-head pins off their jackets in their haste to escape the vengeful mobs roaming the Capitol. Margie Greene should be begging to barter anything, everything, to buy mercy from the cold-eyed citizens who just continue dragging her to the nearest wall.
Christ I wish all these fuckers had one throat so I could slit it in one vicious drawing stroke.

The problem is, he's just tried to take on Harvard. That's the place where the elites get anointed. And I'm pretty sure you already know the gist of Trump's demands: he basically wanted to take over the direction of the entire fucking school.
Everybody knows by this point that you cannot "do a deal" with Trump. He won't honor bargains he's already made. So even if the initial demands had been less sweeping, "yielding on terms" was never really an option. Because at the end of the day, the only result he'll accept is total capitulation. He can afford to put "little people" like you or me in a conundrum like that, even if we end up going to the wall. But trying to put the elites on "death ground" is a much more dangerous business.
As usual, Trump hasn't given this latest brainwave of his the slightest bit of strategic thought, because he's mentally incapable of doing so.

Meh. I'm not sure that this is any sort of turning point. I think it's illusionary to see these people as having some sort of "plan" that can be derailed at one point or another. It's more like a tide, washing its idiot bile and greed everywhere all at once. If it's blocked at one place it just keeps flowing elsewhere.
To destroy it it will have to be killed everywhere, always. Everyone. It means killing every MAGAt tentacle. I'm not convinced there's enough anger and resolve to do that. I hope so!
The McCarty Hearings came during a time when there was such a thing as "shame", when someone could be shamed for obvious moral or social failings.
We're living in "reality" TV-land now. There IS no shame. Trump could be caught pants-down-balls-deep in his daughter and he'd just smirk and lie about what you THOUGHT you saw. These people cannot be shamed or refuted because for them there is no "truth".
