...we love you, H&C.
Tomorrow you fly to China to meet your sons, the little boys you've hoped for and dreamed of and will soon hold for the very first time ever. You posted the song in your heart and a very sweet song it is. But even though I may smell a flower or two now and then, my love has to have a little bit of tart with the sweet - it's in my nature, as the scorpion said.
So to bid you farewell and good luck, I want to give you another song, one that the refrain ("walk on, walk on, walk on...") of your Weepies tune immediately brought to mind, the great old Liverpool anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone."Because along with an entire stadium full of lager-swilling British football fans,I can only wish that beginning tomorrow,
"When you walk through a storm
hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone."
We love you two, and through you, the two little boys sleeping tonight in an orphanage far away, dreaming, perhaps, of the love, life and laughter you are bringing. Good journey. Good luck. Fare well.
